Our next guest lecturer of the year was Aimee Grundell, she is a designer/maker and is the founder of AG studios. Aimee joined our lecture on 16th November 2020 and discussed with us her journey to how she got to where she is now.
Out of the three guest lecturers that we have had during our sessions I found that I have related to Aimee more as she has completed projects in the design industry that I want to work in. Her company AG studios completes interior projects, pop up stands, signage, eco print, art production, large format prints and many more different types of designs. She shown us some of her projects and as some of them were interior projects I found that I related to this more. It made me realise that you don’t have to specialise in one part of the design industry, if you have the skills and the resources you can create anything that fits your clients needs. I have qualifications in art, fashion and interior design so I could use all of these skills in my career.
I found the presentation very informative and useful. Aimee gave valuable information that she found helped her once she had graduated. Her advice was to say yes to things when you’re first starting off your career and to get as many opportunities as possible, be brave and to keep learning. I will take this advice with me once I graduate. I will carry on with my research and gaining experience in as many fields as I can. I am currently the director of a clothing company, this uses my fashion skills and my degree is helping improve my skills in the interior design industry.
